Directors and Senior Management
John K Kariuki (Kenyan) is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of AAR Credit Services in Kenya and Uganda. He is also a former Managing Director of AAR Health Services and the immediate former Vice Chairman of the Association of Microfinance Institutions of Kenya (AMFI).
He attended Warwick University where he obtained a BSc. Honours degree in Applied Mathematics and an MBA. He is credited for being amongst those who pioneered the credit card industry in Kenya and was at one time on the Board of MasterCard for the Middle East & Africa region. He has over 25 years senior management experience covering the manufacturing, IT, consumer banking and health care industries.
He is a shareholder of both AAR Credit Services and AAR Holdings and also sits on the Board of a number of private companies .
N. Justin Chinyanta, (Zambian), is the Chairman (non-Executive) of AAR Credit Services. He is also the Executive Chairman of Loita Capital Partners International, residing in Johannesburg, South Africa.
He is a Barrister at Law with training from the Law Practice Institute of Zambia supported by a Bachelor's degree in law from the University of Zambia. Mr. Chinyanta is a specialist and an expert in the financial markets of eastern and southern Africa, with over twenty years of professional experience in commercial and investment banking in the region. Prior to forming Loita Holdings Corporation, he held senior positions with Citibank and HSBC Equator Bank in Africa.
MrChinyanta is a fellow of the Harvard University Weatherhead Center for International Affairs (WCFIA). The Centre, which is the largest international research centre within Harvard University’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences, counts amongst its alumni and founders, luminaries such as Dr. Henry Kissinger, former United States Secretary of State .
W. G. Barry Ryan, (Australian) is a Non-Executive director of AAR Credit and the Managing Director of Fintech International Ltd. Also a shareholder of Loita Holdings, Mr. Ryan is a former Citibank manager and has over nineteen years of experience in planning, developing and implementing banking automation and telecommunications solutions in Africa.
He holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from Sydney University and a Postgraduate degree in Data Processing from the University of Technology in Sydney. As the Technology Head for Citibank until 1993, he was responsible for managing the technology requirements for the bank's twenty-two branches in eleven countries across Africa.
Lord Enniskillen (Kenyan) is a Non-Executive director of AAR Credit Services and a former Managing Director of AAR Health Services, Kenya Airways, Credit Finance Corporation, and Sunbird Aviation (now Air Kenya). In addition to being a professional pilot he has a wealth of senior management experience in the finance, aviation and the tourism industries. Lord Enniskillen is also a shareholder of AAR Holdings.
Paul Nguru (Kenyan) is a Non-Executive Director of AAR Credit Services and is a former Chief Executive Officer of Ayon Africa Kenya Limited. Before joining Ayon, he was the head of African Alliance Capital, the investment banking division of African Alliance Kenya Investment Bank. He has operated in the corporate advisory services sector as a lead advisor on various corporate finance and strategic transactions in the Energy Sector, Health Services, Telecommunications, Retail, Transport, Agricultural, Hospitality and Financial industries, amongst others. He has also consulted in the government agency arena, and is currently on the panel of World Bank/IFC consultants under UPI number 302374. Paul has several years of experience in the capital market arena, having worked for the Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE) and a leading Stockbroker, as well as experience as a consultant in the corporate finance division of a leading international Management Consulting company .
Paul’s specialist areas include capital raising, funding structures, corporate restructuring, business valuations, diagnostic reviews, due diligences, and general deal structuring and negotiations. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in finance and is an MBA (Finance) candidate.
Stephen Maina (Kenyan) is a Non-Executive Director of AAR Credit Services and is also the AAR Group Head of Strategy. He is responsible for AAR group business investments and strategic partnerships. He has previously served as Managing Director for AAR Kenya Ltd which is the AAR operations in Kenya and thereby been involved in the management of the 3 healthcare areas of financing, delivery and administration.
Steve is also a Board member of The Kenya Healthcare Federation which is the apex private sector body in Kenya that represents the private sector’s healthcare issues to the government. He is a professional accountant by training having trained with PricewaterhouseCoopers and is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants Kenya.
He holds an MBA from the United States International University and a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Accounting) from the University of Nairobi.
Newton Omale (Kenyan) is the Sales Manager of AAR Credit Services. A former Country Manager for AAR Credit Services Uganda, Mr Omale has a wealth of over 30 experience gained mainly with AIG in Kenya.
George Ndonga (Kenyan) is the General Manager - Risk & Business Retention of AAR Credit Services. He has over 18 years’ experience covering manufacturing, motor, insurance and finance industries. Mr. Ndonga is Certified Public Accountant, CPA-K and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance), from Catholic University of Eastern Africa.
Ann Wanjiku Wambugu (Kenyan) is the Credit Manager-Consumer and SME Loans. She has over 10 years’ experience in credit management, financial management and reporting in the private sector. Ms Wambugu is Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K), holds a Masters degree in Business Administration (Strategic Management option) from University Of Nairobi and Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Finance option) from The Catholic University of Eastern Africa.
Rosemary Waweru (Kenyan) is the IPF (Insurance Premium Finance) Business Manager. She has over 18 years’ experience in Customer Service and Marketing. Ms. Waweru holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Marketing from Catholic University and is finalising her Master’s degree in Strategic Management from the same institution.
